Welcome to the 2022 Silver Dollar Fair Jr Livestock Auction

This year you have options on how to bid!  You may attend in person or bid online at bidcal.com.

Auction is Saturday, May 28th at 9 AM in the Cassady Pavilion at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds.

It's all for the kids!
A livestock project is one of the most valuable tools for teaching responsibility to any youth in society today.
The Junior Livestock Auction provides the opportunity for a return on the exhibitor's investment. We welcome your participation as a buyer at the 2022 Silver Dollar Fair.

How the Online Auction Works

  • The auction is live for pre-bidding May 27th & May 28th.
  • The online auction is hosted by BidCal, Inc of Chico, CA. Registration and details are available at www.bidcal.com
  • The auction will take bids beginning Friday, May 27th. Lots will be available to view prior to this date at www.bidcal.com.
  • On Saturday, May 28th the live auction will begin at 9 AM.  You can either participate in person at the Silver Dollar Fair or online at bidcal.com.
  • If you are out bid online, you will receive a email to tell you that you have been out bid on that lot. If you have the BidCal Mobile App you will receive a notification on your phone that you have been out bid.  You may bid again at your desire.
  • Bids will be fixed amounts (not traditional BidCal Max bidding).  What does this mean?  If the bid is at $5 a pound & you bid $10 a pound, the computer will automatically put you in at $10 a pound.
  •  Online bidders after winning a lot will be asked to designate how they want their animal processed in the chat window.  You have 30 minutes after you win your lot to designate custom or resale.  If we don't hear from your within 30 minutes your lot will automatically go resale.
  • See below for terms of sale.

What are your options as a buyer?

  • The winning bidder of each lot will have the choice of (1) CUSTOM PROCESSED or (2) RESELLING THE ANIMAL. Details of each option are as follows:
Option 1: CUSTOM PROCESSED
  • The animal will be processed, inspected and delivered to one of the designated lockers in the area. You will need to indicate your preference of butcher shops and make arrangements with them for cutting instructions. Any animal that is left over 60 days at a butcher shop may be disposed of at the discretion of that shop. If you purchase a custom processed animal, an additional processing fee applies and will be reflected on your invoice from the fair. You are also responsible for the cut and wrap fee to be paid to the butcher shop when you pick the animal up.

Option 2: RESELLING THE ANIMAL

  • Animals that are bought by individuals who do not desire the meat will be resold at market price to the packer for a set per pound price and that amount is then subtracted from the buyer's bill by the fair.
Example: Hog weighs 250lbs. Resale Price is $.80/lb. which equals $200
Your Winning Bid Price is $4.00/lb ($1000);
The difference is $800, which is the amount that you will be responsible for paying.
  • Resale Prices: The resale amounts are calculated by the weight of the animal. The official certified weight will be listed on each lot.
THERE IS NO LIVE ANIMAL PICK-UP!

How to Add-On Support to the Exhibitors

BidCal will be facilitating Add-On Bids for lots sold in the auction.   Add-On Bids are a great way to support the  exhibitors without having to purchase a whole animal.

There are two ways you can place an Add-On Bid:

1) Give the BidCal Office a call at (530) 345-0840.  We can take your information over the phone and you can pay with a credit card (there is a 3% service fee for using a card) or mail us a check (PO BOX 3009, Chico, CA 95927).
2) Click the link in the exhibitors bio on the BidCal Website, fill out the form and BidCal will reach out to you on Tuesday, May 31st to arrange for payment.

Note:
*BidCal is acting only as the passthrough for Add-Ons.  We will not be taking a fee or percentage.  100% of what you donate, will go to the kids in a separate check from BidCal, 7-10 days after the Silver Dollar Fair Auction concludes.
*To BidCal’s knowledge, Add-On Bids are not tax deductible.  Therefore, BidCal will not be providing any tax related paperwork.
